Guided Fishing

Description

Guided Fishing

Guided Fishing: gives you all the advantages of being a local. And its not just about fishing tips and advice. The expertise extends to safety and the quirks of any local area.

We conduct two types of Guided Fishing excursions down here on the lower south coast of KZN. Estuary Sportfish. Rock n Surf. And we fish up and down this beautiful, lush piece of African coastline. Daytime and night.

Estuary

KZN still has a few functional and productive estuaries! We fish the main rivers. Like the Umtamvuna, the Umzimkulu and Umkomaas. And many secret gems in between.

This is an all-year option although during flood times and/or heavy rain, we have to raincheck. The very best time is during the cold of winter. The rivers stop flowing, and the water they do bring down is clear and clean. The crystal clear and clean ocean water enters many of these estuaries creating perfect estuary game fish conditions.

We fish with light spinning gear but that is spooled with 30 or 40 pound braid, or more. The Garrick, Kingfish and Rock Salmon in these rivers will test all but the best of tackle. The fishing is mostly with artificial lures. But we do indulge in the odd live prawn or mullet. When the time and scenario is right.

We have boats available in certain estuaries like the Umzimkulu and the Umtamvuna.

Rock n Surf

We have to gear up even more for this fun category of fishing. But your estuary spinning stick will come in handy providing all the entertainment when the shad are biting. But that 9ft far caster will deliver the relatively tall requirements faced when fishing from the side. A decent coffee grinder (spinning reel in some languages) packed with casting braid can be aimed at so many species of fish. Just be sure that the rig is light enough too, to whip a tiny spoon out over the waves in the early morning offshore.

We also fish lures and live bait chiefly. The odd sardine or octopus leg might make it out there too.

We fish for trophy gamefish like garrick, kingfish and kob.
